Real Plumbing Work Across Nassau & Suffolk County

Most plumbing worth seeing is behind a wall by the time the job is finished. These are photographs taken before that happened — copper and PVC rough-ins, water heater and boiler installations, gas work, and the repipes that older Long Island houses eventually need.

They are our own jobs rather than manufacturer photography, which means they show what the work actually looks like: pipe run and supported properly, joints made cleanly, and equipment installed so the next person who has to service it can reach it. That last part is invisible on the day and matters for twenty years.

Plumbing — before you call

Two kinds of visit. You’ll know which before we come.

We don’t charge to quote a job. We do charge to find a problem nobody has identified yet. Which one you need — and what it costs — gets agreed on the phone, so nothing about the cost is a surprise on the doorstep.

Estimate visitNo charge

You already know what you want done

A boiler replaced, a bathroom rebuilt, a gas line run. We come out, look at the job and give you a number.

No obligation
Diagnostic visitQuoted on the call

Something has failed and nobody knows why

A licensed technician and the time to find what has actually gone wrong. One rate across plumbing, heating, cooling and gas, and one number to reach us on — there is no separate line to find at midnight. You get the figure before anyone is dispatched, and after-hours, weekend and holiday work is quoted the same way.

The rate you are told is the rate

You get the number on the phone, before anyone is dispatched, and it is what you are charged when the technician arrives. One rate across all four trades — plumbing, heating, cooling and gas.

What it pays for

A licensed, insured technician carrying the certifications the work needs, and the time to find what has actually failed — not a quick look and a guess.

Watch for the bait and switch

A call-out advertised at almost nothing gets recovered once someone is standing in your basement. Get the number before anyone travels — from us, or from anyone else you call — and hold them to it when they arrive.

Financing on larger jobs

A boiler that fails in January is not a purchase anyone planned. Financing is available on the big-ticket work, so a system replacement does not have to come out of savings in one go.

What it is normally used for

Boiler, furnace and water heater replacement, a full air conditioning system, a whole-house repipe, sewer and water main work, and larger contracting jobs — kitchens, bathrooms, dormers and extensions.

When to bring it up

At the estimate, before anything is scheduled. It is worth asking even if you think you will not need it, because knowing it is there changes what you are willing to consider fixing properly.

What it does not change

The price of the job. The quote is the quote whether you finance it or not — and on a straightforward repair it is usually not worth the paperwork. We will tell you which one you are looking at.

How To Look At These

Most Of These Photographs Are Of Things You Will Never See Again

A finished bathroom photographs beautifully whoever built it. That is why so much of this album is open walls and trenches instead — it is the only stage where the work can actually be judged.

Look at the rough-in pictures first. Pipe in a stud bay should be properly supported at sensible intervals rather than left to hang on its fittings, and where it passes through a stud there should be a protection plate over it — the metal plate that stops somebody putting a screw through a live water line when they hang a shelf in five years. It costs pennies, it takes seconds, and it is skipped constantly because nobody will ever know.

Then look at the drainage. Waste and vent pipe wants a consistent fall and proper support, and the venting is the part homeowners never think about and plumbers argue about. A drain that runs but gurgles, or a trap that empties itself and lets smells back into the room, is nearly always a venting problem rather than a blockage — and it is designed in or out at exactly this stage.

On the trench photographs, look at what the pipe is sitting on. A sewer or water line wants bedding material around it rather than being dropped onto rubble and buried, because backfill settles and a pipe supported unevenly is a pipe that will eventually be stressed at a point. It is invisible the moment it is covered, which is precisely why it is worth photographing.

The reason to publish this rather than only finished rooms is straightforward. Finished work all looks the same. If you are comparing plumbers, ask to see their rough-in.

Quick Rules Of Thumb

  • Pipe supported at sensible intervals, not hanging on its fittings
  • Protection plates where pipe passes through a stud
  • Consistent fall and proper support on waste runs
  • Venting designed in at rough-in — it is what stops traps emptying
  • Trenched pipe bedded properly rather than dropped onto rubble
  • Ask any plumber you are considering to show you their rough-in

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are so many of these pictures of open walls rather than finished rooms?

Because a finished bathroom looks much the same whoever built it, and the rough-in does not. Open walls are the only stage where you can see whether the pipe is properly supported, whether there are protection plates where it passes through studs, and whether the waste has consistent fall and proper venting. Once the drywall is on, all of that is a matter of trust. We would rather show it than ask for the trust.

What is a protection plate and why does it matter?

It is a metal plate fixed over a pipe where it passes through a stud, and its whole job is to stop a screw or a nail going into a live water line when somebody hangs a shelf or a mirror years later. It costs almost nothing and takes seconds, which is exactly why it gets skipped — nobody is ever going to look. It is one of the clearest signals in a rough-in photograph of whether the work was done carefully or quickly.

My drain gurgles and sometimes there is a smell. Is that a blockage?

Usually not — it is far more often a venting problem. A properly vented waste system lets air in behind the water so the trap holds its seal; when the venting is inadequate the draining water pulls the trap empty, which is what lets the smell back into the room and makes the gurgle. Clearing the drain will not fix it because the drain is not what is wrong. It is designed in or out at rough-in, which is why those photographs matter.

Are these your own photographs?

Yes. Every photograph here is work completed by our own licensed crew across Nassau and Suffolk County. None of it is manufacturer or stock photography.

Can I see work similar to my job?

Call 631-587-0085 and tell us what you are planning. We can usually point you at something comparable, and in many cases talk you through what the job involved and what it cost to do properly.

Do you do work like this on older homes?

Constantly. A large share of what you are looking at is post-war Long Island housing — Capes and ranches with original galvanized supply lines and cast iron waste stacks reaching the end of their service life.

Called Neil on the spur of the moment on a Saturday afternoon because my bathroom sink backed up and when I plunged it nothing but black water came up. I really opened up Pandora's box. Neil was able to come same day and fix the problem. Glad I had his number handy.

Most recently, Neil came to my house to look at an issue I was having with the plumbing of my pool heater. Despite being very busy, he squeezed my job in. This morning he came by early to give everything a test. No surprise, it works perfectly. Thank you Neil!!!
