The piping around a boiler is where a heating installation is won or lost, and it is the first thing covered up and forgotten. These photographs show it done deliberately — properly supported, correctly configured, and laid out so the system runs at the temperatures the equipment was designed for.

We don’t charge to quote a job. We do charge to find a problem nobody has identified yet. Which one you need — and what it costs — gets agreed on the phone, so nothing about the cost is a surprise on the doorstep.
You get the number on the phone, before anyone is dispatched, and it is what you are charged when the technician arrives. One rate across all four trades — plumbing, heating, cooling and gas.
A licensed, insured technician carrying the certifications the work needs, and the time to find what has actually failed — not a quick look and a guess.
A call-out advertised at almost nothing gets recovered once someone is standing in your basement. Get the number before anyone travels — from us, or from anyone else you call — and hold them to it when they arrive.
A boiler that fails in January is not a purchase anyone planned. Financing is available on the big-ticket work, so a system replacement does not have to come out of savings in one go.
Boiler, furnace and water heater replacement, a full air conditioning system, a whole-house repipe, sewer and water main work, and larger contracting jobs — kitchens, bathrooms, dormers and extensions.
At the estimate, before anything is scheduled. It is worth asking even if you think you will not need it, because knowing it is there changes what you are willing to consider fixing properly.
The price of the job. The quote is the quote whether you finance it or not — and on a straightforward repair it is usually not worth the paperwork. We will tell you which one you are looking at.
Most people cannot tell a careful boiler installation from a rushed one, which is exactly why it is worth showing you. Here is what we would look at — in these pictures and in anybody else's.
Start with the piping, not the boiler. Any two installers can hang the same appliance on the same wall. What separates them is the copper around it: whether the runs are properly supported rather than sagging between fittings, whether the pipework is laid out in a deliberate order or threaded wherever it would fit, and whether somebody thought about how it would be serviced in ten years.
Then the components nobody photographs. The expansion tank and the air separator have correct positions relative to the circulator, and a system where they are simply wherever there was room will trap air and short-cycle no matter how good the boiler is. Circulators should sit with isolation valves either side so a pump can be changed without draining the system — a small thing that costs almost nothing at installation and a great deal the first time it is needed.
On the radiant photographs, look at the tubing before the manifold. Even spacing across the panels, properly fastened so it cannot float when the pour goes down, and a manifold with the zones actually labelled. An unlabelled manifold works fine on day one and becomes a guessing game for whoever services it next.
None of this shows once the job is finished, which is why we photograph it while it is open. If you are comparing quotes, ask the other company for pictures of their pipework rather than their finished boilers. The answer you get is informative either way.

The piping rather than the appliance. Whether the copper is supported along its length instead of sagging between fittings, whether the expansion tank and air separator are positioned properly relative to the circulator, whether there are isolation valves either side of the pump so it can be replaced without draining the system, and whether the zones are labelled. Those are the things that decide how a system behaves for the next twenty years, and they are all invisible the moment the job is signed off.
Because it determines flow rates and return temperatures, and those determine whether the boiler ever performs the way it was sold to you. A high-efficiency condensing unit plumbed into an old layout that returns water too hot will not condense, which is the entire mechanism it was bought for. The appliance is the easy part of the purchase. The piping around it is the part that decides what you actually got.
That is partly why it is here. Ask any company you are considering for photographs of their own pipework mid-installation, not finished boilers or manufacturer images. Contractors who take that kind of picture generally do so because they are happy for it to be looked at closely. It is a fair question and the answer tells you something either way.
Yes, all of them, completed by our own licensed crew across Nassau and Suffolk County. Nothing here is manufacturer or stock photography.
Because that is where the quality is. Near-boiler piping determines flow rates, return temperatures and how the system behaves — a high-efficiency boiler plumbed into an old layout unchanged will never reach the efficiency it was sold on.
Both, plus high-efficiency condensing, geothermal and radiant. Plenty of Long Island homes still run on oil and we install and service those alongside gas.

Couldn't be happier with NJM Mechanical and Neil. I needed a new Navien wall mounted gas combination boiler. He showed up on Friday afternoon to diagnose and was at my house at 7am the very next morning on a Saturday throwing in my new Boiler. They didn't charge Emergency Service rates and they beat their competitors price by over $500!

Neil and his team showed up in an emergency situation where I had no heat because my furnace died. His professionalism and ability to diagnose the problem was incredible. My mom is 87 years old and he made her comfortable with his kindness. Thanks for warming our home, and our lives Neil. God bless you and your team!!
